In hopes of getting more kids aware of unnecessary household waste and harnessing their creativity to spread awareness throughout Teton Valley about the problems with our disposable lifestyles, Teton Valley Community Recycling has initiated a scholarship prize for the best youth (under 18) designer at this year’s Trashion Show on November 3rd. The Youth Trashion Design winner will receive a $50 scholarship to use for the educational endeavor of their choice. All other participants in the Trashion Show will receive a prize from Noso Patches. And the whole event is just a lot of fun!
The not-to-miss event of the fall, Trash Bash is coming on Saturday Nov. 3 from 6-9 pm at the Knotty Pine Supper Club in Victor. The fundraiser which supports to mission of TVCR to develop ethical waste reduction solutions that are financially and environmentally sound for our community features the region’s only Trashion Show where Project Runway and sustainable design collide to bring out some of the best creativity this valley can offer. While the event is typically dominated by adult Trashionistas, this year’s youth division is sure to bring some new talent out of the woodwork.
How to Enter the Trashion Show:
• Adults and kids of all ages are invited to repurpose waste to create wearable pieces of art as a runway outfit. Either model the piece yourself or bring a designated model.
• Prizes will be awarded (Grand Prize, Runner Up, Youth)
• If you need ideas for Trashion Show outfits, Google search “trashion show” for hundreds of ideas or visit our Pinterest board or attend the free Design Workshop on Sunday Oct 14 3-5 pm at the Local Galleria.
