The entire Board and Staff of TVCR are so excited to host Trash Bash this year. The event has existed in one form or another for almost two decades and it never ceases to amaze! On Saturday November 4th, the Teton Valley Trashionistas will once again reveal their upcycled glamorous creations. TVCR is throwing the annual Trash Bash at Highpoint Cider November 4th from 5pm – 8pm! BUY TICKETS HERE! (Trashionistas get in for free! Fill out this FORM to sign up.)
Our annual silent “Re-auction” will take place the week leading up to Trash Bash with the final hours of bidding happening while we are all together at the Trash Bash! The bidding for the “Re-Auction” will start Saturday October 28th and end Sunday November 5th at 5pm. The auction items will start showing up on the website in the few days before October 28th. And we will certainly post about it once it starts.
Trashionistas should sign up in advance (fill out this FORM or email us at tetonrecycling@gmail.com). A “Trashionista” is anyone who creates and wears an outfit at least partially constructed of trash, recyclable items, or upcycled materials. In the past, outfits have been made out of lift tickets, newspaper, cardboard, scrap fabric, plastic, labels, magazines, and so much more!
To provide inspiration and resources, we are teaming up with Teton Arts to host an outfit build night on Monday October 23rd from 5-8pm. Bring any specific materials you hope to craft into an outfit and TVCR will provide scrap fabrics and other fun items from our endless supply of saved materials in our office. We are always thinking of ways to upcycle everything so we have a lot available. Teton Arts will provide their amazing space, and building materials (hot glue gun art anyone?!?!).
Last year, we had the largest turnout of Youth Trashionistas that Trash Bash has ever seen! We were amazed by the creativity of these young minds. They used cardboard, magazines, old screen doors, and fabric sample scraps to create outfits that wowed the crowd! We can’t wait to see what they come up with this year!
If you are looking for material to upcycle – General Laundry has a rack of free donated clothes that are desperate to be saved. Lucky Dog Thrift Store and 2nd ACT Thrift Store provide a plethora of possibilities. And if you are looking for something with a little more heft, the Transfer Station is open for salvaging on Fridays. Or if you were hoping for bubble wrap or a stretchy plastic, feel free to collect from the Plastic Recycling Shed at MD Nursery. Of course, there is always the Teton Valley Free Swap group on Facebook if you are looking for something more specific.
In addition to showing off their creative talents, Trashionistas will get into the event for free and be the celebrities of the evening. Non Trashionistas will have to purchase a ticket- $10 before the event and $15 at the door, but kids are free. We cannot wait to celebrate with our community!
