Great news for Teton Valley! The Teton County Transfer Station is now recycling used and broken holiday light strings to be recycled along with e-waste during open hours (this includes old cell phones, flat screens, printer cartridges, and other e-waste).
Please do not throw your broken lights in the trash! They are recyclable and this will help keep toxins out of landfills and reuse valuable copper wiring.
For your convenience during this holiday season, Teton Valley Community Recycling (TVCR) is hosting a Holiday Lights Collection Drive at the Geotourism Center for those who can’t make it to the Transfer Center. This location in Driggs is open 24 hours for your convenience. Look for the box labeled “Xmas Lights.”
TVCR volunteers will be transporting these broken lights to the Transfer Station for recycling. The Light String Collection will be running from now until January 15, 2018.
Please deposit only string lights at this location. Not any other sort of light bulb for the safety of our staff.
There is also a used battery collection receptacle available at the same location for a limited time. Stop in and use our free recycled Gift Wrap Station while you are there.
Thanks for being a conscientious recycler through the holiday season!
