Visiting our local Valley of the Tetons Library in Victor, you will soon realize that you can check out far more than books and videos these days. Thanks to start up funding from Silver Star Communications and the Community Foundation of Teton Valley and the passion and motivation of library program manager, Rashell Stanger, the Valley of the Tetons Tool Lending Library has been going strong since 2018. Not only can you check out useful tools for many DIY projects, you can also check out STEM educational games and toys for your kids to try out and play with technology.
#1 Energy Efficiency Tools – including the Kill-a-Watt that allows you to measure how much electrical draw each of your individual appliances use, whether on or in “sleep mode” to help you make smarter choices in reducing energy. Try it out. You might be surprised.
#2 Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker – Want to start home canning? Check out this large stainless steel pressure cooker – and if you need, you can also check out some “How To” books on canning your own sauces, beans, jams, and veggies. What a great way to preserve the harvest from our short summer without having to store your own large pressure cooker in the closet.
#3 Shop Vacs – Ready for some spring cleaning? Need to vacuum out your car, camper, or garage. A shop vac is a really handy tool that you can borrow to clean up large spills and messes really quickly. The library has several available for check out.
#4 Cell Sensor EMF Detector – Are you worried about cell phone or electromagnetic fields in your living space? This easy to use detector can tell you which rooms in your home have the most electromagnetic radiation.
#5 American Girl Doll – not a tool, per se, but you can even check out toys at the library! They have a free puzzle exchange and a wide range of “tech toys” designed to help kids learn coding and programming. Ask to see the full catalog at the Valley of the Tetons Library of Things and start checking out some fun new toys for you and your kids.
Thank you Valley of the Tetons Library for being such a valuable asset to our community.
