With a background in education and wildlife biology, Iris has worked on conservation projects ranging from penguin research in Antarctica to rat eradication in the Aleutian Islands, but her home in Teton Valley kept calling her back. After earning a Masters from Cornell University and spending 20+ years leading outdoor expeditions with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), Iris finally decided to settle down to life in the valley full-time with her daughter.

A committed recycler since early childhood, Iris took over the Executive Director position in October 2017 and is motivated to collaborate with other community organizations to achieve great things in reducing waste and increasing diversion from the landfill. She is passionate about education and working with a diverse cross section of people in the community. If she ever gets free time again, she’ll be hiking, skiing, and spending time with her family and friends.
