Our Position: Transforming Waste into Resources in Teton County
Teton Valley Community Recycling (TVCR) has been the advocate for integrated waste management, municipal composting, DEQ compliance, waste reduction and recycling in the Valley since 1997.
During these years, we have come to understand that recycling cannot exist as a stand-alone operation; rather, it must integrate with well managed waste program.
TVCR is currently focusing on the following efforts to promote responsible waste management in Teton Valley.
REDUCE
- Organizing specific waste reduction campaigns that will focus on the reduction of plastics, food waste, and paper from the waste stream
- Community outreach through
- School education programs
- Programs to assist businesses in reducing waste and institute recycling programs
- Monthly newsletters
- Informational newspaper articles.
REUSE
- Promoting safe, legal salvaging at the county transfer station
- Organizing a once or twice per year community salvage sale
- Exploring the possibility of a future salvage resale store for building, furniture and other appropriate materials
RECYCLE
- Providing continued support to the County in developing a complete recycling facility at the transfer station
- Exploring ways to make recycling more convenient for valley residents.
